Twenty-thirrrteeen has to be the most boring year ever. TWENNYTWELVE had such applomb and pazzazz, how is 2013 going to live up to it? IT ISN'T, GUYS. With that, you may have noticed my palate has taken an unexpected turn to the earthier shades on the spectrum. Call it the weather, call it my soul- but I never thought I'd see the day I'd be looking at a black tunic with such unbridled enthusiasm. And not one item is bodycon! The fatphobic amongst you may be breathing a sigh of relief as the curve of my potruding belly remains hidden- but this is most unlike me! I'm even considering a pair of JEANS this winter/spring, and I haven't owned a pair of jeans since 2007.
And what's more, I may be diverting from my fail-safe shade of ice white hair. I'm currently sporting pastel pink, and while I do love it it's hard to co-ordinate with a great number of outfits. I'm big on monochrome this season, and statement coloured hair is a great way to add a flash of colour, emphasising your hair. Going on from my look at earthier tones in my palate, I may be interested in not only statement colours such as the purple featured above, but red or perhaps burgundy! Who knows! We will see, we will bloody well see!
And with that, I bid you goodnight!

new years resolutions

I’m not much of a resolution kind of person, (that’s a total lie I am a compulsive list-maker) but these are just some personal goals and things for me to keep in mind, which I thought I might as well share.
  • Tell strangers when I think they look pretty or cool or I’m just loving their vibe. It makes my entire life when it happens to me, so I should start doing it to other people. Also to do this to people online, as I’m really bad at reaching out to people I think are amazingly cool.
  • Work out what I need to do in my life to make me happy, and do it. Not to work towards a full time job that pays well but ultimately makes me ill, but to do what will make me happy and fulfilled in the long run.
  • Do stand up more.
  • Keep up my progress with body positivity/fat acceptance. This includes showing a picture of my belly online, which is something I’d love to do but I just don’t have the nerve.
  • Wear sleeveless tops in summer (big deal for me), no leggings or tights (eek!) and be proud of my VBO.
  • Don’t be too hard on myself.
  • Make lots of new friends (both off and online) that are body positive and just generally positive and uplifting people.
  • Go and see the pyramids. Alternatively disneyland.
  • Strive to be more analytic of the world around me, always be questioning, be willing to be called out, and always aware of my various privileges. Just to read more theory and always be learning how to be a better person. Try to say things that haven’t been said before, and articulate them in a way only I can do.
  • Eliminate all problematic language from my vocabulary.
  • Not to let any negative experiences from the last 12 months affect how I form relationships with people.
  • Appreciate that improving my mental health is a long process, and that it is the most important thing to put time and effort into. Try my best not to shut people out when things get tough, and just to be good to myself.
  • Learn to sew, and start to make myself amazing clothes.
  • Keep up being a badass.

birthday ootd pics :)

Just a couple of pictures from my birthday, went to Great Yarmouth with my dad then just for a meal out. Had a lovely day, and even got a Bradley Wiggins mug from my granny, saying "just my cup of tea" ahaha what a card.
In the first pic, the jacket is from new look inspire range and was a birthday present,
devo tshirt was stolen from my ex bf, no idea where its from, and the skirt is new look inspire.
In the second pic my skirt is from asos curve, its a lovely skirt but SO SO tight so its worth sizing up a couple of sizes, absolutely ridic.
Didn't get a picture of my interview outfit but I went for a black&white polka dot dress and burgundy blazer :) It went alright, fingers crossed I got the job!

Job Interview Outfits! TEAL ME ALL ABOUT IT!

Hello!
To the beady eyed amongst you, I've been off work for the past few months getting to grips with new medication and general depression crazy fun times. At last there's some light at the end of the tunnel; and I am job hunting! No sooner had I started but I have an interview on Thursday (pause for tv studio audience 'wooooo') for a shiny new job, back in the crazy biz we call SEO.
While on the phone taking down the particulars of my interview, before "smart dress code" had even been uttered my mind was transported to Helena Banks: Business Bitch.
I had a look for some job interview clothing tips for plus sizes, and obviously there wasn't much that didn't include some dour black sack. I'm not good at dulling down my look at the best of times, and I don't see why an interview should be any different. The thought of a polyester pencil skirt and blazer combo sends shivers down my spine. To my first tip-
1. IT'S MOST IMPORTANT TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
It's so tempting to go out and buy an all singing, all dancing outfit. Seeing as most plus sized clothes exist solely online (another rant for another day), you can't bloody well try them on! You have no idea how these clothes are going to fit, and if you feel uncomfortable in your clothes it's absolutely going to show in how you carry yourself. Confidence comes from the inside and shines out (ooh get me), so wear your foolproof outfit for confidence. For me, leopard print just makes me feel like a ball breaking badass.
This wouldn't be much of a blog if my one and only tip was "wear what makes you feel good" so on I go...
2. SMART DOESN'T MEAN BORING!
So back to my hatred of "office wear". In an interview environment you might not want to let your freak flag fly too much, but I personally feel that you want to put across what makes you special. If you're going to be talking about fashion in any capacity, its so important to walk the walk and talk the talk. Playful accessories and statement pieces can inject some humour into your outfit without making you look like Linda LaHughes. Teal is one of my favourite colours ever, and I think that teal accents in an outfit keeps it smart but interesting.
3. TEAL ME MORE, TEAL ME MORE...
Back to teal, (the amy winehouse b side) and my never ending love for it. It's bright, classy and suits a variety of skintones. With other really simple accessories a teal accent can really make it POP! Chelsea boots are ALWAYS in season, and worth a good investment. Using them in this outfit gives the lace top a more androgynous edge. In this set I decided to make it look like the dress had a handbag as a head, because that is just the avant garde world I happen to live in.
So in conclusion, think a little bit outside the box with your interview outfits- just because it has to be smart it doesn't mean you're confined to boring clothing. Extend this to every part of your life, and be fearless and fabulous and they won't be able to do anything else but hire you!
I'll post pictures of what I do end up wearing, and wish me luck! xxx

kitsch jewellery and an update!

Hello!
I haven't really been blogging for god knows how long, and I can only apologise humbly with my head between my hands! Many things and nothing has been happening- in no uncertain terms I just had a cheeky bout of depression and had to move back in with my parents, oh we didn't half laugh! Oh no wait except we didn't. So I'm back in deepest darkest Norfolk, rocking the suburbs. Sans boyfriend, sans jobs, sans life my friends! But hey, I shall put my tiny violin away and get on with talking about jewellery.
I really hate jewellery. I don't wear it, I don't buy it, unless its costume jewellery it really doesn't interest me. I like my jewellery big, brash and kitsch. So these pieces on etsy-type website storevny really caught my eye. They're ultra femme and so gaudy- perfect perfect for a divine inspired outfit and hair that reaches the clouds. Big hair is a new thing for me, I'm trying to perfect the art of the beehive but it is a thankless task. Go hard or go home, as a Peruvian gigolo once said to me (that's a lie).
These pieces are reminiscent of the 90s, with barbie faces and pogs being made into necklaces. They're great prices as well, and I love knowing you have something that other people don't have. Beautifully made as well, and I spent around $14.00 in all, which I don't think is half bad.
Anyway, I'll get to my rekorderlig cider and look forward to a sloppy guiseppe in front of the xfactor (when did I become so predictable?) and swoon over James Arthur- amiright, laydeez? Give me someone with a less than conventional face and a big pair of NHS specs and I'm all over it!
BYEEEEE x
